Today's line-up was Nowai, MinDer, Edtheshed, Offcorsa, Mr Chip, Forest Red and Toncho!

Track: Riverside (short layout)

Exercise #1: Learning the track
- use as few HUD/apps as possible; focus on the track, your car and other cars around you. The more info you're processing, the more focus you're wasting which could've been put into your track performance
- get rid of the ideal line if you're still using it (CTRL+I) ; it doesn't help in side by side racing, it's often not the fastest way and you'll always be dependent on this line
- go by corner markers (the 5-4-3-etc and 150-100-50 markers on the outside of a corner) and other environmental cues; trees, kerbs, buildings, posts, whatever!
- use (near correct) FOV (field of view), this is very important as it completely changes how you experience depth, your braking and your awareness: http://www.cosyracingcommunity.com/thread-9.html (scroll down to the bold "Correct field of view")
- use as much of the track as possible, outside on approaching the corner, brake in a straight line if possible, turn in (often fully(!) release throttle for better turn in), get the kerb/apex, then gently press throttle and build up throttle from there, exit on the outside of the turn.
- be careful when using the kerbs, they're smooth (or very bumpy) surfaces with an increased risk of spinning; apply less throttle when using them. When off track, be smooth on the throttle or risk spinning. Don't try to get out of it fast, this will cost you more time.

Exercise #2: Overtaking Craft; Braking Side by Side
- the two cars must be side by side at the start of the braking zone. The inside car will try a pass. The outside car will allow space, but will also try to guard the exit of the corner as much as possible to get a faster exit and thus stay in the (likely) lead.
- switch positions every lap

Exercise #3: The Cutback
- the car on the inside will brake too late, essentially missing the apex. The outside car will brake very early, making it easier to assess the situation and go for an overtake on the exit of the corner. The inside car will, because of braking too late, have a bad exit and is often an easy target going onto a straight.

Exercise #4: The Outside Divebomb
- the leader will take the inside before the braking zone, allowing space for the chasing car to take the outside and try to brake much later. The inside car guards the inside, but at the cost of a slower corner speed. The objective is for the outside car to get a pass.

Training to practice: 8 minute qualifying (skipped, mwuahaha) and subsequent 5 lap race!

As mentioned on Discord, next week there won't be any Cosy Training, and it'll probably be bi-weekly from here on, rumor has it that there will also be Northern American focused session. No, no oval racing, just times that are friendly to you guys (mid-evening instead of the current timing).

Exercise n°3 is actually my favorite overtaking technique: while defending, if you take your time you can judge if your opponent can brake enough to clip the apex or not and overtake him.
You're already full throttle while your attacker is still turning. Very efficient.
Also for the banking section, you can trick your opponent by forcing him to take the inside before the banking, keep the outside and let go the other take the ideal at the exit.
Keep your speed to stay outside until the marshalls' cabin (stay a bit behind the inside car) then release gas to aim the end of the kerb on the right. You can go full throttle before the other car with a straighter line.

I was paired with Ed for the last exercise, and from my POV it is his favorite tech  ;  I can recognize him on track defending hard and keeping the inside at corners' entries, even without names upon cars.
I was not familiar with this thechnique but I really enjoyed blocking the inside, going a bit wide on purpose to "push" (I mean psychlogicaly) the car aside, maybe forcing him to brake to keep the advantage.

I tried to apply all the exercises during the race and I think I succeded. It was very fun to battle with Ed, blocking him in every decent ways using the Z and Sven's advices. A Very good night!
