Yep that's fine, but as S0ul said - you can then just stop and start again from pitbox. The whole point would be to decide how much Fuel you would add...........
And fun it was! Had some great battles but unfortunately too little fuel for race 1 I would have loved to battle ed.
I did have that chance in the next race. Ed was incredibly quick and was catching up all the time. Luckily, he had to battle Minder who was starting to get some incredible laps! I barely managed to sneak my first place over the finish line. 2 more laps and Minder would have embarrassed me for sure
This was a somehow little chaotic but very fun event :-).
I got disqualified for not boxing in race 1 when I was in lap 9 (literally entering the pit). It seemed the leader just started lap 10. Is it normal that the pit windows is depending on how far others are and not how far you are in the race?
In practice I managed to drive a 1.09.8 or so, but during the race I could not manage to get a 1.11 or 1.12 . So I started changing my breaking pattern in the second race. S0ul recommended to shift very fast downwards which made it possible to break about 50m later but I guess I overdid it in race 2 . My engine got some nice color after lap 1 .
I had some nice fights with Ceolmor, Minder and Jonah...but the biggest one was to the one with the brakes and not destroying my engine.
So now that I understand the car, is there a chance to have another event with it?
It was certainly something a lttle different last night.
I too got disqualified as I was about to enter the pit at the end of my lap 8!! Shame, because with my superior pit strategy, I was on for a definite win (even if I was in 5th or 6th at the time.)
In the sprint race I had a good tussle with Mr_urlauber for a few laps until I made a mistake and he passed me. But at least I finished that one.
It was fun doing a 'night' race, but I cannot say I am a fan of the track. I would be up for trying this car again on a different track though.
My first time at this track, my first time in an open wheeler other than on the tatuus@imola pub server.
Took a little while to get used to both the car and track, but once I did I really liked it, and could start pushing for faster laps.
Race 1:
Somehow completely forgot to brake for the chicane at turn3! So I completely cut the corner. I rejoined and slowed up a bit to give the places back. Barry and Minder were up ahead. As barry has said, he wasn't 100% sure on the brakes, I managed to pass both of them in one corner! I later made a mistake and Minder overtook me. Ahead, he was catching up with Bossy (i think) and couldn't get past. Just as I caught up to them the pits opened. My lifetime of watching F1 was about to come in use. Don't waste time trying to pass, get into the pits now and put your speed advantage to work in clean air. And boy did it work! By the time everyone had pitted I had gone from 4th to 2nd.
Unlucky about the fuel soul!
Race 2:
Soul and I made a gap over everyone. I was about 1 second behind him for nearly the whole race! Then out of nowhere, Minder was behind me. I saw his best lap was a x:08:x!! what an alien! The theme of my cosy career continued by making a series of mistakes in front of minder. I should really work on that! Finished 3rd.
First time with this combo too, practice and qual let me a weird feeling:
a flat track build on a parking lot and a slow car rigid as a woodstick
I lowered tyres pressure, antiroll bars to avoid flying on kerbs, reduced rear aero and lenghtened the gearbox.
Decided to race as careful as possible, and well, it was awesome.
The track is wide and technic, allows different lines but no forgiveness and first corners are a blast. The car is very good to learn to be clean and fast, requieres softness but strenght too. Any mistakes costs a lot of time and gaps were always changing.
The first start was a bit messy but the of the race rest was epic. I was surprised how openwheels allows to race close of each others with confidence, battles were intense!
I think I should have refuel sooner like Ed (lap 8) but wanted to have all the potential of new tyres, as I felt they started to go after 5 laps.
I got my ideal line in mind for the second race, adjusted braking points behind Barry and decided to brake more agressive just after overtaken him. Tyres were in ideal conditions and the gap in front big enough to have a clean track and free mind.
After 2 laps, the gap were much smaller but started to feel the excitation grow up as my tyres needed to be gentle. I did some mistakes behind Ed but finally I passed him atfer calmed down my nerves. I imediatly felt his breath on my neck and made small mistakes again but kept the position.
It was different in all point, I really enjoyed it! The night, the exotic track and the F3 were a very good combo
