Race 1: Nürburgring Sprint GT
In a solid first racing week at the cold and cloudy southern German forests, Sven takes the championship lead in a tough battle with Black1995. Although the Dutchman struggled in qualifying, his solid pace in races with only marginal errors provided him two heat wins and top points for the night. Also surprisingly quick: Black1995. The Italian youngster has suddenly risen from his Am rating to likely become a big contribution to BPM's team score this series. Comparing qualifying results and the race heat outcomes will certainly bring a couple of frowns. Rookie VR Slipstream secured second during qualifying, but couldn't impress in the races. Exactly the other way around, DeLof managed a lot better race results, though still not near his Pro rating expectations. Previous series champion MinDer K looks to be a strong midfielder this season. A slight bit of the pace maybe, don't count out the Frenchman just yet! After the first week there's four different cars in the top five, with the GTE only at the very bottom. Still a very competitive car, solid and secure, and does well in off-series sessions. Race 2: Vallelunga Extended Circuit
Sven extends championship lead in very hot conditions at Italy's Vallelunga! 24 to 26 degrees in mid clear conditions turn races into hot lap fests Not only did Sven again score big points, it was an overall thundering performance from Madmen this week, with 1-2-3's in the last two racing heats. With Jorius fresh into his VR headset, a surprising result! In fact, a result so surprising that it lead to further investigations in the balance between cars. After further testing the cars have since been rebalanced for the third race at Tor Poznan. Back to Vallelunga and the debut of Team Skidmarks. With both drivers always close to each other on the track, a few occassions too close resulting in them slowing each other down, helping BPM racing's mitoand9. Another debut by nucrx2003 who yet has to impress. The US based driver had to leave before the third heat, where Dutch cosy veteran NRTH missed the first heat, both scoring only two out of three heat scores. A rough week for NRTH and Madkingdom, the two found each other in various unlucky incidents in the third racing heat. Talking hopefully solved it, we'll find out in a few weeks as the Dutchman isn't around for the next two. 'scuzi for the mouse cursor.. reset my recording settings to default and missed that..
Race 3: Tor Poznan
Mad-rooky and MinDer K take race wins when Sven has issues. Blistering heat at the Polish track puts tires to the test. Since the rebalancing of the cars the roofed Exiges were expected to be less dominant, but Sven nevertheless takes pole ahead of 240R driver mad-rooky and fellow Dutchman DeLof in an Evora S. DeLof however quickly spills his third starting spot by going off at the first corner, where Sven is helped by a close battle between team mate Offcorsa, mad-rooky and MinDer K. He wouldn't have the same luck in the second and third heat as a technical issue and a bad start caused by fellow Madmen Offcorsa results in fifth and second place. Not the luckiest driver himself, Offcorsa got involved in a couple of incidents which saw Madkingdom lose his membership because of unsporting conduct. Last but not least, a nice debut by German S0ul01, finishing in the midfield, where often good racing is to be had.
Race 4: Imola
Massive crash in Heat 3 disturbs solid week of racing. Another solid week for Madmen Motorsport. Both Sven and Offcorsa secured podiums in every heat, with MinDer K in close pursuit. Also a very steady performance from mr_urlauber, getting 70 points to end ahead of pro driver DeLof in the week total. The Dutchman was again involved in some minor collisions, where waiting for the victim cost him some good battles and points. Talk of the week was definitely the major crash in heat 3 where Mr chip took out team mate DeLof. The former lost control onto the straight, DeLof couldn't avoid him, spun five times taking some other cars into the carnage. Both cars managed to recover some positions, but OldEarl and VR Slipstream were barely safe. Mad-rooky's evening ended by an unintentional start from the pits which angered the young German enough to throw in the towel, where nucrx2003 and Jonah Hax were the back markers. Fixed for post-Grobnik highlights!
Race 5: Grobnik
Lots of mistakes and overtakes on the bumpy Croatian rollercoaster, Madmen drivers seal overall and team championships. The difficult Croatian track is the stage of the fifth race of the series. Sixteen drivers, our new record attendance on Assetto, qualified. Series debut by CosyRacingCommunity regulars like Whatshisname, Wilf1977 and Rambomonkey gave some extra spark to the races again! With a promising qualifying outcome, MinDer K on pole for the first time this series, the front of the pack had some trouble. The first heat was dedided by a lagging Rambomonkey who didn't see a blue flag on VR and missed MinDer coming by. The two collided, allowing for an easy race for Sven and Offcorsa. The second race marked the return of MinDer, who's pace and overtaking ability took him back to fourth. The last heat was again a battle between Sven and MinDer. The Dutchman apparently didn't show his true pace yet, and clocked consistent high 1:36's later in the race, where MinDer's concentration loss decided the battle for first. Recently VR Slipstream's incidents didn't go unnoticed, there's been some talking and hopefully that solved the many incidents the young Indian was involved in so far. Onto better times! Race 6: Catalunya Grand Prix
An enjoyable week for, especially, the top of the pack! Sven, Whatshisname, MinDer K and Offcorsa all got their piece of a podium spot, with DeLof often slightly behind. Although qualifying fifth, VR Slipstream still can't convert his qualifying pace to race pace. Quite the contrary for Sven; only doing two laps in qualifying, the Dutchman clearly saved his breath for the races, a successful approach! The return of S0ul01 was a mixed one with a collision between himself and VR Slipstream in the third heat due to disabling ABS, but the German enjoyed it nevertheless. Good to see him back! Another unfortunate third heat for mr_urlauber, who managed a perfect 360, good for the highlights, less useful for his laptime!
Race 7: Misano
The first wins for MinDer K since Tor Poznan, with the Frenchman dominating at Misano. The first time the off track penalty system was used, with mixed effect. It reduced the advantage from cutting and wide exits, but also decided a couple of moments of close racing with a slow down penalty for the victim. The combination of three right handers after the long straight proved to be a major stress point for most drivers; this is where you catch up a lot, relax to loose a bit of ground or go wide and loose a lot of ground, all within a second or two, from near top speed to second gear hairpin.
