for me the Porsche and the lotus are pretty even for lap times at Barcelona, while the Mazda falls 2-3 secs short.
I'm not sure why the Mazda is so much slower for me, turn in seems so much better than the other 2. It is hard to get on power coming out of corners, but it can be done smoothly, I guess I just don't do it quite as well as some. It's a shame cause I kinda like this car. except for the right-hand drive bit, and the sound might drive me batty over a whole series. unless I can figure out how to go faster, I won't be using this for the series.
The lotus mid corner understeer is a little bit annoying, especially if you are trying to push. It seems to need an earlier turn-in if you don't want to be missing the apex all the time. sometimes surprise oversteer in slow corners, very manageable though. and the only car that keeps good tire temps. (I know this is supposed to be a non-issue, probably just placebo effect on my part.) If you push on corner entry the back will step out under braking.
Nothing really glaring stands out about how the Beetle drives, I can achieve similar lap times as the Lotus. less understeer, slightly more oversteer, feels a bit heavier but a very consistent car for me. I can also get the back to step out under braking on corner entry.
leaning towards choosing the Porsche, maybe. we'll see how this weeks test goes.
