I've been debating with myself on if I should write this, but I might as well get it out there. Please take this as constructive feedback.
I thought that this circuit, Barbagallo, was really boring. It certainly has a couple of challenging corners as I found turns 4 and 6 hard to get right every time. And I had some really nice close battles over the three heats. Overall, however, it was mostly boring. Cheers Stephen

I can understand all POV on these matters, and I didn’t race this week, but I will say it is VERY difficult to please everyone all the time.
It is also very difficult to find different tracks that we don’t use all the time, either because they really don’t fit with the car, or because they are “just not good enough mods”. I haven’t organised much lately (hopefully about to change soon(ish)), but it’s difficult with even the occasional races, let alone every single week. I’m sure Sven will take it constructively, but just wanted to point out, how awkward it is to do everything all the time……

I liked the track - elevation changes are always nice, and there were some challenging corners with some lines that were hard to get just right.
Also made for some great racing for me at least

Me being a bit simple, I enjoyed the simple track that’s easy to learn.
Meant I got involved in some really close fun racing, especially in heat 3 with off corsa.

Yeah I actually liked it because of the challenging turns and elevation changes.

Don't worry, it's not like I designed it It is a bit difficult to know beforehand whether a track will deliver really close racing; I thought beforehand that the combination of pretty easy corners and sections combined with corners with odd bankings would deliver a solid race, as it did with AI cars (which is what I mostly use to decide since this year). Maybe it would be fun if we'd race it again.. and maybe it would not. At least it would be fun if the Toyota was a bit closer in pace, and it will be next week. There's an update to the BoP and Toyota setup coming later this week (PM'd to Toyota drivers already), also with a new track on the calendar as one clearly favors the Mazda. Soon.

I'd also like to say that while I can understand your comments after Race 2 regarding the BoP, and your rather curt request for people to join the practice sessions in future (this series practice is the first I've personally missed); exercising your frustration by sitting out the last race doesn't seem right, especially when attendance numbers are low already. I'm sure there are mid pack drivers who would have welcomed an extra car to battle against. FWIW, the cars seem incredibly evenly matched in terms of outright pace without any ballast or restrictors, RSR timings confirm this. However, given the straight line advantage of the Toyota, and the Cosy rule set, it will be almost impossible to overtake a Toyota (without any sort of BoP) if they're leading and just hold a defensive line through the corner, as they can just drive off down the straight. Obviously the Mazda advantage is corner speed, and with the torque curve of the Toyota, and how (it seems) AC restrictors work, maybe just having a 10% restrictor on the Toyota and no ballast in the Mazda would yield a closer BoP. There have also been a number of comments recently regarding "practicing" and how this is seemingly against the Cosy ethos. I personally set out to learn tracks I don't know if they're potentially coming up this week as I want to know where I'm going come race day. However, practice comes in many forms (some here have 1000s of hours in sims, some have less than 100), and it's worth bearing in mind that this isn't the only league out there and several people may compete in other daily/weekly/monthly events. For those who don't have the time to do that, and therefore don't get as much practice, be that direct practice for upcoming races, or indirect practice by just racing other events, that's just the unfortunate result of playing online games. To address this, perhaps consideration should be given to trialling a restrictor/ballast based on the current Skill Classifications (with a bit extra added for starred drivers in that class), to allow for more evenly matched racing. I'm assuming you thought the cars were closely matched before season start, but unless every Sunday regular turns up, it's impossible to know. A smaller delta between first and last place is going to make for closer racing, a more varied podium, and hopefully more fun. Going back to the old reverse grid may also work better in this scenario because as it stands, you just end up racing with two other people and don't actually get to race against most of the grid. I'm just letting them know right away I'm working on it to comfort them. 2) I think I've put in enough hours in this thing to reserve the right to sit out a race every few years for whatever reason if I want to, Scott. I was also not a car to battle against, more a rolling roadblock in case someone actually ended up (close enough) behind me. The thing is, the entire balance between cars is my responsibility when it comes to people being satisfied about a series and/or racing with this group altogether. If they have an uncompetitive car, that's my problem. And in this case that annoyed me again to the point where I didn't want to finish that race. That has nothing to do with not wanting to race those people. If I race a (reasonably) competitive car, I'm pretty sure there's never a race where I quit out, I continued races (for example at Paul Ricard (GT Root series) or Watkins Glen (Modified Monsters), where I got kicked for too many contacts after being a passenger in a heavy incident that was pretty much outside my control) where I was a lap behind everyone or more and still finished the race. I started the Three Hours of Zandvoort racing in ninth, having a (for me) shit qualifying and still did the race, even when Stewart4444 took me out in the first lap (no offense Stewart ) . A bit unfair assessment, maybe. 3) That's pretty much part of the game; if I made all the cars exactly equal, we might as well race one car. There are groups/leagues catering to that. The Supra a few series back also had the straight line speed to in theory keep the Rufs behind, yet quite a few race heats were not won by a Supra. But you were here for the close racing, right? Last series you already had a car that was as quick on the straights as the others, as quick (or quicker) in the corners as the others and the best on the brakes. You never complained about that. That aside it's also mentioned in the rules for, I think, years now that "Ballast and restrictors are designed to stay the same throughout a series, but may be subject of change when car(s) prove to be dominant. Setups are likely to remain untouched.". 4) I have no idea where this sudden comment regarding practice comes from (I guess the reverse grid system change), but regarding practice: I want you to know the track and the car and I want you to be able to race reasonably safely. What I don't want is people becoming aggressive/verbal (or in any form unhappy with racing here) about an unlucky incident because they put in (for example) hours or practice. You yourself made a verbal comment a few races/series ago that, in my opinion, kind of resembled that (a bit misplaced as well because of your history in terms of incidents at that point). We're aiming for casual racers who are not in twenty other competitions. If you are, that's your decision. I can't stop you, but I'm aiming first and foremost to cater to those who are only racing here because the other leagues and groups do not offer what this thing does. If I wanted to race people who practice their ass off to win a race (including all the complexities in terms of stewarding, and maybe much better organising than I'm willing to put in here), I'd go elsewhere. 5) Good luck with that ballast based on skill classifications. I've tried that on Forza Motorsport (and a little experiment on AC too) and won't go there again; sometimes a slightly more ballasted car becomes magically faster and a heavily restricted car can sometimes actually be easier to control and thus faster. I've done this stuff for over 12 years now and experimented plenty of times. The old reverse grid works great in theory (for some), a bit less well in practice for the reasons mentioned in the rules. If it does not, we might go back or try a solution somewhere in the middle. The incident counts and comments so far are kind of proving my choice already, but hey, things can change over a series. Sometimes most of the grid maybe don't even want to race you, as they might know they are holding you up, or don't want to battle you (knowing they will 95% of the time lose the position, or worse) to end up with slower laps allowing other cars to sneak up. It's not just about the ego of the fast drivers. I think most of us just want a good race, maybe not perfect, but something that's at times a thriller. I'm still trying my best to deliver that. I'm not just catering to the top three, whether that includes myself or not.

1) I'm not complaining here either, I made a suggestion to reduce the Toyota to 10% from 30%, so perhaps you have misread my comment.
2) I've seen you mention not wanting people to practice a multitude of times, both in the forum and during discord meetings. It was last mentioned in the change to the reverse grid, which is what in my opinion resulted in the stale racing on Sunday. There's fun to be had racing against other people of varying skill levels but I guess you've addressed that point in that people don't want to race against me. Again, you mention people practicing their ass off but the first time I drove the Mazda (with your setup) this series, was on Sunday. I attempted to try them out at Silverstone but a server issue prevented me from doing that. I also don't even get the problem if that's what people do? If they want to do it to win, or get a better position, what's the problem? It's not a competitive community, right? Placings and overall positions don't matter in that case. 3) I got pulled up for quitting out of a race when there was one lap left, my car was heavily damaged, and I was 20s off the back of the grid, in my first series at Mosport. There was no point in finishing because the server would have ended before I could complete my lap, yet you said you weren't happy about me rage quitting. I think if you're going to hold people to a standard, it should be consistent, regardless of the status of that person, but this isn't a community or a democracy, right? 4) I'm also not going to bother defending a comment I made after an incident, I've done it before, and I'll likely do it again if I'm in a bad mood, sometimes you can't catch yourself before doing it. I'll apologise later if I do something like that. 5) If people don't want to race against me, that's fine, and their decision. If they don't want to race because they think they're holding someone up, or they don't want to battle because they may lose time or a position, there's not a lot I can do about that. But it's kind of the part of racing people right? Trying to overtake, having good battles, or maybe I'm misinterpreting? This is getting to the point of me wanting to argue now and I'm not willing to engage you in that. I offered a suggestion for the balance of the cars given my experience racing them, and using data from RSR, yet I think you see that as me complaining about something, which is unfortunate. My complaint was you doing something you have gone out of your way to warn people about in the past, it's hypocritical. I also take your point regarding the ballast/restrictor per driver, again just a suggestion for fun racing but one it seems you don't think will work. The reason I was racing in Cosy was to develop better racecraft and have close, fair racing. That doesn't seem like it's going to happen if people don't want to race against me for whatever reason, which is a shame. I apologise to both Johnnie and Emerty but I won't be continuing any racing going fowards. I hope that puts most of the grids mind at ease, or at least those who have expressed their concerns to you.

Well I do enjoy racing with you Scott. It will be a shame if you stop racing in this series.
You seem to feel personally attacked. For the most part, I don't see the word "you" in singular form used in most of my defense of your initial comment. And in cases where it were, accompanied by the word "maybe".
1) I don't see how this comments my comment, so I guess something was misinterpreted? I don't know how your suggestion influences my earlier decision to inform Toyota drivers I was about to do something about any possible imbalance and lack of stability in the provided setup before informing everyone else. 2) That same stale racing was absolutely intense the week before, also further down the grid (this week as well). Might be down to the track, might be bad luck (in all(?) heats). I've seen some pretty good racing in some heats at Barbagallo (and equally so Laguna Seca), the same and better than before with the old reverse grid. The post-race comments on Discord and the comments in this thread regarding the track seem to confirm that (with some saying it's boring, I appreciate the opinions though). Again, I'll evaluate after this series. I don't think it should be a very competitive community, although some actions were made on track that sometimes might lead people to think otherwise. The more people we have racing, the more people seem to think the points or positions matter and the more people think others do stuff on purpose if they don't know each other very well. I don't know why you feel personally attacked about this entire practice thing if "the first time I drove the Mazda (with your setup) this series, was on Sunday" combined with the reasoning I've put behind my comments about practicing in my previous reply. 3) In above examples I gave (except for the Three Hours of Zandvoort) I also did not get to complete my final lap I think, and/or at least finished last. You missed the point in that my reason for quitting (or rather not continuing as I did not quit an ongoing heat) last Sunday had nothing to do with my own incapability or any incident caused by myself or someone else. It had to do with organisational annoyances solely: not getting up a correct BoP for the series. You might be (partly) right about this not being a democracy or community by the way, I've thought about changing it to "cosyracingclub" before. Democracy or crowd voting of any sort doesn't necessarily mean there's a good outcome "for the people". If I don't take care of organising this well, no-one will be racing here. And if I don't run this, no-one will be racing here (while this might be difficult to believe, I'll spare you the effort I spent on replacing myself over the past year). Apparently, so far, I've done well enough to keep you racing here. Community stands more for a less competitive atmosphere and an atmosphere where someone will spend 20 minutes on Tuesday to get someone else to have a better race next Sunday, or where someone has the chance to compete in a very well designed skin, or whatever else in that light. 4) We use push to talk for that as well. I've sworn a few times as well during incidents, and while it may or may not be personally directed at that person, at that very moment they do not need to hear that (and pretty sure anyone else on the grid doesn't) so I don't press the almighty button. A few seconds later I might think something completely opposite or upon hearing their view, or after thinking again, I might realise it might not have been solely their fault or was a (stupid) mistake like I've made few myself as well. 5) There was a "maybe" in there for a reason. Maybe it also gets different if they, or you, are always the one who is overtaken. 6) (re: offering a suggestion) I'm not sure if I see your suggestion the way it was intended, as for me, there's a complaint aside/inside your suggestion "it will be almost impossible to overtake a Toyota (without any sort of BoP) if they're leading and just hold a defensive line through the corner, as they can just drive off down the straight". The same can be said about the Mazda if the Toyota does not have the capacity to reel it in on the straight. 7) (re: Data from RSR) I doubt they have data on all the tracks on our calendar for both cars? Even then most (if not all) servers are not using the same track conditions and setups, nor locked default (or custom) setups, as we use all of the time. I could give you track(s) layout(s) where you'd need to either really boost the Mazda (Le Mans, Monza, etc) or the Toyota (pretty much any very tight track like Magione). The wrong tire pressure used at one track could dirty up the RSR data, while the perfect setup (for one of the cars) at another track could show a balance that doesn't exist at another track. Apart from that I don't know how what experience you have racing these cars against each other if the first time you drove them was on Sunday and there was no Toyota close to you during any of the race heats. 8) (re: hypocritical) Explained in the first paragraph of (3) 9) (re: suggestion for ballast/restrictor per driver) Very difficult or close to impossible to bring into practice; what if cars use very different restrictors (or 100% already, think SLS AMG in GT Root) or weight ballast, with the effect on each car (and/or within divisions) wildly varying. There could also be cars that would be impossible to overtake without any sort of BoP if they're leading and just hold a defensive line through the corner. Would that be fun? 10) (re: reason to race here) See top of this post, and aside that, I think there's plenty of close fair racing to be had against people of your own pace, and probably more of that. I don't see how those people wouldn't want to race you, unless you've done something to them I don't know about. 11) I don't know who have expressed their concerns to me, and I don't know where you're getting this from, as there have been none privately. The concerns have been public on the server ("Shit, I'm on front row!" type comments), in the incident counts (check the count for the reverse gridded drivers involved in incidents in heat 2 and 3 for the past five series in Incident Count (http://cosyracingcommunity.com/thread-1056.html), replays of the first few corners with multiple podium finishers battling a P12 qualifier who ended up on P8 because of a few battle incidents in past series, and in the server logs I've seen some people come up far more than others.

I find the reasoning behind changing the reverse grid very interesting. It makes perfect sense to change the format after looking at the data. When I was new to the community, I did feel extra pressure when starting on the front row, and almost certainly caused incidents. In addition, I also found myself (and others) content with staying in 8th place, rather than attempting fight further up the grid, so that I/they would start in P1. So I think the new reverse grid system should solve some of these problems.
10 September 2021, 9:59
I like the new reverse grids i will be fighting the people closer to me in all 3 heats.
As a middle to backmarker pretty much for many years now the times I have had to be at the front of the grid has been a pointless exercise. I would say that nearly every pole position I have had has resulted me in being pushed off the track so i came up with my own strategy as soon as the lights came on drive off and take a penalty
