Again Sven, thanks for setting up this race - it was really something.
I opted this year to do the whole race and OMG. Every muscle was so sore at the end - need to up my fitness for next time.
I noticed a couple of you were wondering if my tyres were going away - this wasn't the case, for my first two stints, I was trying to keep fuel usage under 2.00 ltrs/lap - so that I could extend the stints and spend less time in the pits. I was doing lift and coast into turn 1 and 12 - lifting at around 150-200m. I was able to do laps in the 1:40 with this method. I also double stinted the tyres.
This now appears to have not been the best strategy - so on my 3rd and 4th stint, I went flat out which I why I did gain some time on Sven up front. I also think fuel saving in the first two stints gave Sven a chance to catch-up with the pack!
However, due to mental and physical fatigue, I made a few spins and mistakes in the last hour which lost me around 20-30 seconds in total.
On, what must have been last or second to last lap, I went wide going into Turn 7, hit the barrier, and broke my engine - so I sat in the pits until the end. Finished 4th.
Despite all that, I had a lot of fun. The battles in the first hour were great, and then defending in the latter stages was also fun.
Can't wait for the next endurance race... 6 hours next time Sven?
