I wouldn't get hung up on the handbrake. Using it really doesn't gain you masses of time. Its more important to (sven will hate this) learn the stages. I'm not talking meter by meter but more the hazard points in each stage. Since taking part in these events I've realised that just turning up and driving the stages isn't going to cut it. I need some idea of what to expect. Greece has some particularly nasty sections that need careful navigation. Going through stage four, as an example, fast and blind, will end is a crash. To have decent pace I need to practice. That's the bottom line.
