very sorry to soul01 for first race. not sure how first touch happened but it sent me a bit sideways, and the correction I made sent me back into you. I was trying to get away from you the whole time, honest! just watched the replay, It sure looks bad, like I hit you twice, lol. didn't realize you went off either. Again Apologies.
Also, apologies to Urlauber. second lap third race, got a little sideways under braking, let off brakes momentarily to gather it up, then I was slightly too fast and understeered into you, left me in last place. I was glad to see you faired much better than I continuing in 3rd. My driving was not all that good today, many mistakes, aside from lucking into a P1 in first race, the rest of the races were pretty blah.
Fun racing tonight, had plenty of battles and I'm quite happy I didn't really make costly mistakes. I was 105% cautious, though. Also, wasn't able to make any technical pass. However, I managed to break the F40 train with 2x 5th and 1x 6th. First two races I even got most consistent driving achievement, but was still about 15s behind the leader if i recall correctly, at the end of the race. Still waiting for that track where the Lambo will have an upper hand..
Cheers to the surrounding F40 drivers who had to deal with my defensive driving for not taking too many risks and making some nice overtakes (Soul, MinDer, Dimavika, Barry, probably others who overtook me but I can't remember right now) Hope i wasn't defending too aggressively, I tried to be as predictable as possible while using the full track width as long as nobody was really going for a gap.

Quite a mixed bag for me, yesterday. The first race was filled with all kinds of trouble. After the first corner, there was that incident with offcorsa. Yeah, i was pretty mad then and it did look fishy in the replay. My spun took out half the field, too, I think. But it's alright, this stuff happens. Apology accepted
That was not the end of the troubles though. For some reason, my wheel was stuck on maximum centering force and no other form of force feedback whatsoever. My arms were completely cramped up by the end. Combine this with weirdly low framerate and a giant Nvidia Logo sitting on my screen and you can get, what a shitshow it was. I'm glad I somehow finished kinda nicely. Heat 2 was a bit better. I finally managed to not stall the car but unfortunately had to dodge Fragmonkey, which caused my car to lose grip. So i lost some places at the start, after all. This made things much more interesting, however. I managed to get a few overtakes done and found myself behind S4bin. Formidable defending from him but I somehow snuck past him. That fight made me sweat like no other before. I pushed as hard as I could and was scared of taking him out all the time. But I could not back down! I would love to have another duel like that next weekend Heat 3 was alright. My concentration was gone and i broke out into some mad slides. My patron saint, Takumi, somehow saved me from wiping out completely. While I was sliding about, Urlauber got past and then he was just gone! He got faster and faster each lap and I could not catch up. Big props for that drive, Urlauber, you seemed in control of that race all the time.

A somehow strange evening for me, yesterday. I managed a super clean lap and qualified first:-). Also I really enjoy driving on Bikernieki...great track, please keep it !
So I still am having problems starting. That is why I put the accelator app on the right side of the starting sign. In race 1 I was only loosing a place on start to Dima who is the best starter in the field I guess but could defend my place against Minder. Then on the long straight I was trying to shift to my othe layout without the RPM app. This, Dima blocking the view into the corner and the changed shadows vs Qualifiyng (I dont have the old layout, so no traffic cones;-) lead to me in braking about 30m late. I was just able to avoid a deep dive into Dima and yeah that was the race for me . In race 2 I was starting again from 1st, finishing the first race as 8th. I was able to defend against Dima or did we have a fight on the first laps? I dont remeber . At least I was in front of Dima for a couple of laps and managed first to increase the distance between both of us to 2 seconds and then lost a couple of tenth each lap but got lucky when Dima slipped a little in lap 7 or 8. At that time Minder was near to Dima and overtook him. He managed to get in overtaking distance but slipped also in one corner and took some pressure off of me. So I was able to finish 1st. Race 3 started with a big incident in front but I was warned by S0ul so I got past without touching anyone. Which left me on 4th I guess. I had some minor problems in the race before but this race was just horrific. There were some sound lags, my virtual wheel was a couple of times strangely spinning (in a direction in which I did not push it physically) and the most annoying thing, my force feedback was acting sometimes like there were holes on the track. Just little to mayor FF spikes to the left or the right. So I was trying to keep the car on the track. I was not able to drive anything near a 1:27, mor like low 1:29. And Minder was just getting into it. I really defended the hardest here and kept Minder beind or sometimes on my left or right (just to say that Minder was again super fair and I think at one point he put back when he did not have to). But in the end (literally 2nd last corner) I lost it and went off track. So Minder got past me, which was much deserved:-). Like I said great track, I hope we can race it again and I am going to solve my wheel problem for the next race. See you Sunday.
Guess my frustration reached boiling point yesterday. On a more personal level it didn't help that I got taken out in all but two heats so far. But overall I couldn't be motivated to race anymore as this series (with the exception of the F40, so half the field) fails to deliver what the CosyRacingCommunity should stand for.
The dominating track performance of the F40 is quite clear now; it has taken all hot laps usually by quite a margin, and generally even the semi pro and sometimes am drivers outclass pro's in other cars. What surprises me is that no-one seems to mention that their F40 must be far superior. On top of that there's way too many contacts in the first few corners, where everyone still seems to be on the edge despite these cars (and/or their drivers) barely allowing that outside of a close pack. So there'll be a few changes. I'll confirm this hopefully halfway the week; the last two weeks (race 7 and race 8) will be removed, best four out of six results (total eight for teams) will count towards the standings, and the F40's cornering ability will, if possible, be decreased.

I am against removing the last two weeks. What's done is done. Yeah, the balancing can be tweaked but erasing individual performances can't be the way to do it. I had some great races and would hate them to be null and void and I am sure others feel that way as well

Sorry missed this. I was gonna head back home to race, but I was still hanging out my ass so bad haha saturday night party times
Interesting to hear sven's thoughts on the F40. It's not impossible to match the F40 pace from time to time. I have seen the Ruf match it, and the Lambo did once in pre-season testing. But I guess it is becoming clear that these fast laps were exceptional and driving beyond the limit is the only way to match the F40..

Ah, in that case, all good. Carry on

I would say it is like this, from worst to best Countach -->GTO/RUF-->F40. But strangely during the testweek when Laguna Seca was life to be tested I was on par with F40 and GTO. I also saw Minder driving the RUF on Barcelona during a test doing the fastest lap with a low 2.07...but I am not sure what happened balance wise afterwards.
When I was battling with S4B1N and ED they are normally on par with me. But the advantage of the F40 really is huge against the Countach. I only saw the RUF once or twice driven by L2Kryder on Barcelona and he really had a hard time against the F40 from Offcorsa. I would say the RUF is on a level with the GTO but harder drive.

I don't want to speak out of turn here, as I'm not really in a position to know how well the cars are balanced when they're being driven at the edge of their capability. Despite my poor performance I've definitely felt faster in the F40 than in any other series so far. The root of the issue seems to be that it's really difficult to balance these cars against each other. The official performance stats vary wildly and IF Kunos have made the virtual versions even remotely accurate then there's a gulf of difference between them that has to be tamed by Sven.
I know Sven has mentioned he hates having to spend ages balancing and adjusting cars pre-season. The previous series saw the BMW causing no end of trouble before it was dropped and now it would appear the F40 has become an issue. I do enjoy having the choice of 4 cars to race in a series but maybe it would be better if it's limited to 2 or maybe 3 for the next one to take the pressure off a bit. I feel really selfish proposing this next part.... maybe pick a track that the top 5 drivers know really really well and ask that they test the cars by hot lapping for a Sunday evening or two before the series starts. Not a race but a chance to see just how the cars shake out when the drivers have a clear track. Even that idea has it's flaws because amongst the top 5 there are a couple of you who really know how to shave those 10ths off the lap time. Christ, looking at it now it's hard to see how Sven has managed to balance the cars at all. Last note ( sorry for rambling and I wont be offended if you disagree with everything I've said) maybe have a mixed class series as an experiment? PRO drivers all in one car, PRO-AM in another and AM in a third. You'd get to see 3 different car types pounding around a track but you wouldn't need to balance them as much ? I know it splits the field and it only works if there are enough people in each ranking to mean that everyone gets to battle with drivers roughly at their level. As an AM driver I have no issue knowing that the better drivers are out of my reach but anyone in an AM car is a direct competitor and if I perform really well ( hey don't laugh it's possible! ) then the back of the PR0-AM drivers might just be in reach too. Sorry for the wall of text; basically I'd like to see different cars on track because I think it's more interesting but if we can take some of the work load off of Sven ( and anyone else involved) with balancing a series of different cars and different driver capabilities I'm all for it.
Yeah, I tried not to complain about F40s being too fast, but it seems it's not just me. I had a bad evolution so far in the series, so I was blaming that.
The thing is, in testing it seemed all right for some reason. But perhaps people got more used to it and now it's basically impossible to even keep up. For instance, I could barely pull a 1:29 something yesterday in what was probably a 99.5% lap in the Lambo, while most my laps were around 1:30.0-.5. Then one could say that maybe I'm a bad driver, but even when trying to chase some F40 who overtook me, it was still impossible, unless the other driver made some error, or for the very last sector of the track. And chasing is normally much easier. Regarding incidents, I saw the one in h1 in the mirror yesterday, and basically the whole pack behind me was swept away in an unfortunate situation. I couldn't see much and my replay was overwritten, so I can't comment much on that. But on an incident note, I think this series so far has seen a lot of first lap incidents, despite the cosy trainings we had prior. Oh one more thing I forgot: it's always a good thing to remember that we're racing for fun. I must admit that my many mistakes in the first 2 races could have been due to frustration that I could simply not keep up with most of the F40 pack. This race I took it 'easy' and just tried to have fun and race the shit out of this Lambo Even later edit: I partly agree with fragmonkey that having 4 cars is difficult to balance. Maybe 3 or 2 could be more manageable.
11 June 2018, 15:37
To add to the incidents thing. Yeah, race one was bad. I was used as a bullet and took out half the field. Stuff like that happens, we're all amateurs who don't practice all week. I think that is in line with what this community should be. However, I have noticed in the last 3 races, that people rarely slow down, after incidents. I think we should work on that a little bit. Other than that, I think incidents are to be expected and should not take away from the fun, especially since 90% of the fights are fair and good.
I do however agree on the F40 being too strong. I doubt it's the performance, but it's just so damn easy to drive. I am sure the other cars can keep up but it just takes much more concentration and skill. Therefore, yeah. The F40 is too strong but I don't know if it will be an easy fix
Sven, I want to add one thing regarding cutting out two races: If that results in not dropping two lowest scores then I, and others who had bad luck in two races, would be getting screwed. per-se.
I do agree, F40 is OP through the corners, but about par on straights. So I imagine that a power drop could be sufficient to balance it like you did previously with the RX7 and Exige. This way other cars can capitalize on the straights... Though that may not solve the corner entry issue where F40s are 'boosting' other cars.... Do agree with Soul regarding incidents
the F40.... I thought my good runs at mugello was because it is my go to test track when I want to try a different car and compare tuning tweeks in other cars. so I am very comfortable on that track.
And, I have been doing quite a bit of practicing this series, I was thinking that was paying off a bit as far as my pace goes compared to field. but the F40 does seem easy to drive fairly consistant, which gives good results in a race. I have been qualifying a couple places higher than normal though. So, Sven, do whatever you think is necessary, shorten this series and kinda call it good, and get on with the next. get some help balancing the next field of cars. I guess that's what pre-season and reveal parties are for. but I would be agreeable to running some laps and give you some feedback on the next set. Yes, keep the choices down to 3 or 2 cars might help. maybe recruit a volunteer or 2 to start sussing out a few choices for next series now? p.s. regarding first lap incidents, I normally, (not always,) lose anywhere from 2-5 places in the first few corners, I've always wondered if I should be a little more aggressive to avoid this, but I've been told I'm too aggressive sometimes, so being extra careful on starts has become my way. (I was pretty bad this week race 1, sorry again.) I have noticed a bit of an increase in first lap incidents lately, the Community has grown some in the past year, from9-10 to 16-17 drivers, it's awesome but gets a tad crowded at times. more care needed in a bigger crowd. A lot of my good finishes lately have been due to being lucky and squeezing past these incidents ahead with no touches, knock on wood.
