Heat 3 was not a ragequit (wait, it actually was..). I don't want to talk about it. Made an enormous amount of mistakes. At least I didn't crash anyone, except a scrape with Dimavika - i was trying to keep the inside going out of that corner, sorry if i didn't leave enough space. Couldn't really tell how close you were. And the Countach is immense.

I feel you pain man. I'm sure I'm getting quicker; I'm lapping better and I'm more comfortable with close side by side racing than I was when I first joined this group. But that only makes it more frustrating when I lose control on the last lap and ruin all my work. Thankfully I didn't take anyone with me tonight but my monitor was very nearly a victim.

luck was with me today. benefitted 3 races from crashes in front of me. first race the crashes let me through to 3rd , drove well and held on.
next race I was through to 4th, caught and passed Sixx, then I was defending into first corner he touched me just slightly, sent me sliding and I barely saved it. held on for another podium. third race saw me sneak through a pile of cars from 5th? I think, to the lead. held just over a second to Ryder who was catching slowly, just barely held on for the win. Minder was also catching him quite quick. considered (for about 1/2 sec.) to try hold Ryder back so Minder could catch and pass for a Team Jake 1-2. thought better of it. I think all my good luck was used up, 1-3 was good too.

Shit races for me this time, my apologies to Chip, Ed and anyone else I screwed up.
Race 1 started out with a hit from Lryder who, I believe, missed his brakepoint. I then climbed up to 8th and, thinking that it was not the last lap, screwed up a pass on Soul and plowed like a donkey into Chip on the last lap in the last corner... Again, really sorry! Race 2 was more of the same, but with a decent finish for a 2nd row start in Race 3. Race 3 was ok, with a few screw ups but with a cool fight with Soul. Stellar driving in the sweepers! Here is to next week!

Re-Live is live
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2EfBSJm_NQ First of all, let me apologize to Zombie from all of my heart. Those 2 spins from me was just terrible judgement on my side, please don't hate me (too much)... Otherwise it has been great fun, more than I expected from the F40, the setup feels really great, thx Sven! I was surprised that I could keep up the pace in heat 1 on P2! Nice battles throuout the other heats! Then I did the latest big Windows update that day and all sound settings were f*ed up, also my webcam wasn't working (driver reinstall fixed it...) and my microphone didn't work. That's the reason why there is no sound from AC in the video. And then there was this totally unexpected behaviour of my shifter, it wouldn't let me shift in 1st gear at the start, I unplugged it 10 times then it worked. You can't imagine the horror and panic I had when I was at pole in heat 3... Is that a feature of AC or is it my shifter's fault?

Overall, great fun racing yesterday! But at times, damn was that a bad race lol
Quali: Was fine. Got a good clean lap in. No chance of getting in the top 3, they were way ahead! Heat 1: A great start. By turn one I had made up about 3 or 4 places. Ahead I saw Lryder and someone else spinning out to the inside. I tried to go left to avoid, but there was no room. I ended up inside Lryder. In VR I could only see black porsche lol. I ended up pushed to the grass on the inside, where the lack of grip really fucked me. I first went straight to the wall instead of the track, then somehow managed to spin it again. Also, when the engine is at 0 revs, it takes about 2 seconds to even rev up. I was in last. By a fair way. I was so annoyed! I'm sure a few of you heard me asking for a restart, but it's cool, that's how it goes I tried to make up some places, but still made a couple mistakes. Heat 2: Much better! Started well, but lost a few places going wide final turn lap 1. Defended pretty well. Them F40s hard to keep behind! Heat 3: Started in second place. Got the lead from the start. I knew it was only a matter of time before an F40 would get past, but I wasn't going to make it easy! Unfortunately, dima tapped me and i couldn't keep it on track. The F40 speed in the corners seemed to be a bit of a theme of yesterday. Due to the significant difference in corner speed of the F40 and the Countach, there were quite a few times where an F40 behind me had to get on the brake mid corner to not go into the back of me. I apologise to the few drivers who came unstuck because of this. I wasn't doing it on purpose, honest! Anyway, I'm sure as the series goes on, the F40s will get used to this and account for their mid corner advantage a bit better. Anyway, I performed some really good defensive driving on the way to the finish (if i say so myself haha). One or two small mistakes put my position at risk, but I managed to put my car in the right place to maintain the position

Yeah!, training with Fragmonkey was successfull. I was able to get a nearly clean start in all 3 races:-).
The qualifying also went well but I was not able to get a complete clean lap in (was on a high 2:08 at the end and through it away at some point) but managed to close on the 3rd place, which is also great. My races were mostly without any incidents, only in race 2 I was not able to avoid touching the spinning Lryder slightly. In race 3 there was a chain of bad luck at the long downhill left. Mr. Urlauber in front was defending against Sven, who was braking a little too late and bumped into Urlaubers back. I was not anticipating this contact which also lead to me bumping slightly into Sven which caused Minder who really had no choice in avoiding me, now about 10 km/h slower then normal. I spun into Sven and Mr. Urlauber was already out. Nonetheless, even I think is was not his fault, Minder was waiting to let me pass, but got me after some laps anyways . Overall, and again, I had some really nice fights, especially with Lryder in race 2 and with the whole team Jake in the other 3 races. I think S0ul got knocked out a few times and Fragmonkey was around place 10 (except race 3, but he lost it at some point...next time mate:-), so I really was alone with them scary fast F40s. No chance to overtake Offcorsa in race 1 and nearly no chance in defending places against Minder for the whole race 2/3.

After the qualif, I was already hyped by the upcoming battle with DImavika, but LRyder came a bit fast in first corner and took away Dima with him.
I managed the gap with 2nd/3rd/4th while looking in the mirror to see how Offcorsa was doing after gained 2 places in first lap. I did a clean start for second heat, avoided major issues and came 4th behind Offcorsa; he was battling with Barry and LRyder and with 3 laps remaining, I decided to stay behind and watch: 3rd and 4th place was a good team result and good start for the next heat. Last heat was the most agitated. I've been surprised by 3 cars in front of me which slowed down a bit and I hit the last one, provoking a big mess. I was afraid that I hadn't waited enough but I watched the replay and fortunaly eveybody was back on track before me. Ended in 3rd, I couldn't catch back LRyder; Offcorsa resisted very well for the win I'm very happy how Team Jake performed sunday, luck was by our side. The F40 is a real joy to drive faster and faster, devoring the long curves with a big smile (until it's too fast and rear begins to slide in corners' entry ) |
