Quite a bad start for me, as I wasn't focused during qualifying and only put in one full lap. Heat 1 started badly as I was spun onto the middle of the track and couldn't get away without being passed by the entire field. Managed to overtake some cars into 10th, just behind Gerald.
Heat 2 and heat 3 were looking to be duplicates. Managed to keep the Ruf on track, both times closely tailing Zombie. In heat 3 I made the smallest mistake while aside Zombie on turn 2 and lost control. The infamous Porsche pendulum kicked in and swerved me into Zombie, with both of us losing a few positions. Quite a close finish with four different cars in our "pack" in the end

re-live is online.
Seems like some guys need to learn how to launch those rockets First 2 races were really nice, 3rd not so after that T1 carnage. Enjoy, now with wheel/pedal cam! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u8UAxNX1H60

Really great racing tonight, very close stuff. Heat 1 was something of a disaster from start to finish. Heat 2 looked to be going better until I destabilised the car by clipping the inner curb 'bump' on the last corner, dropped from the mid pack right down to back.
Heat 3 I benefited from the leading pack's 'love-tapping' and just tried to keep my head down until the end of the race. I have to say the cars (and paintjobs!) really look stunning pounding around the tarmac together. Looking forward to the rest of this season immensely.

Some great amount of fun racing tonight. Didn't have much of a feel for the car, though, and Barcelona is one of my least favorite tracks. However, despite qualifying in 11th, i managed to climb to 6th in H1 after some crashes. I don't think i actually made an overtake happen - all were the result of incidents.
H2 started decent, Ed and I had front row for about a lap or so? Then he spun in front of me, and i had to go off-track to avoid crashing into him, which resulted in a 10s penalty due to the traffic behind me, as i became 1st or 2nd, there was absolutely nowhere to stop safely as far as I could think in the moment except right after the last corner on the straight, on the inside. That put me back with Ed around 11th again finished 9th, but i was nowhere near to catching up pair of F40s in front of me. H3 was packed in the beginning. I was racing some corners door to door to Ed, not because we wanted to block, but there was nowhere to go.. either of us slowing down to drive one after the other would have resulted in giving Dimavika a free overtake then got a bump from Dimavika which set us both in the last places (F40 corners slightly better than Lambo BTW ). Then I had some battles defending from Urlauber, while trying to overtake Forest Red and Six. That was some pretty fun stuff. Sorry for the trick at the braking point in T3 Urlauber - i also caused you to miss it

But if a disaster for me.
Poor qualifying , but great start to H1 and I was following Zombie in P5 I think - then wheel disconnected! Started at back but managed another good start gaining a few places on first lap, and also benefitting from ed’s problems had a good battle with mr_urlauber for remainder, and brought it home in 6th. 3rd Race another decent start up to 3rd/4th I think and then wheel disconnected again! Oh well the little racing I did was fun, and the cars do look great

I didn't touched the wheel for the week, so I reminded what was the F40's behaviour and enlighted 3 points:
-bad start: have to release the clutch pedal slowly, -long braking, have to keep an eye in the mirrors, -high grip in curves if it's flat, I forced me to go a bit faster than I feel OK. I was surprised to clock the best time as I was in "safe mode", I tried to push next lap but I was 1 sec slower. The car loves long turns and can pass thru with a stunning speed if you've braked enough before. A good start first race allowed me enough gap to control until the end. Second start was clean and had some close action the first laps. Then I tried to catch Dimavika, leading us to an epic battle with great defense for his first place I didn't found the opening to do a proper overtake Last heat was a bit more agitated: I avoided both Faux Team drivers in first turn while they were spinning and reached the leading pack. Then I took 2nd place, the first didn't had the opportunity to wide the gap and I put some pressure on him. Sab1n tried to delay his brake points to keep the lead but those "old" cars don't seem to like that, and he went wider letting enough room to pass. Very good racing night with a very fun car to drive

Does anyone have some clutches to lend? I tried out several methods during the 3 races, but neither was successful. I think I really have to learn Offcorsas method (to push the gas pedal and Shift to 1st gear at around 3000-5500 rpm).
2nd place in qualifying and 1 second distance to polesetter Minder...wow awesome lap there (@Sven: Hey I think you forgot the extra ballast when balancing Minder). Then the start...the good thing is that there were no incidents. I started very bad and lost 7 places, I got Offcorsa back in the first corner and also a couple of places due to incidents in front of me. I was just trying to drive stable myself and avoiding incidents. I had some great fights with Zombie and ED on the last laps. I got Zombie I guess on the long straight and was able to pass ED in one of the last corners. So yeah 3rd place:-). Race 2, it gets better during the starts, I only lost 5 places (this time I just full thottled and shifted). I was able to get some places back after a battle with Gerald, Offcorsa and Mr. Chip and then followed S0ul for the rest of the race. I was making some attempts to overtake but could never get past him. I ended on 8th and started on 1st, lost 10 places this time. (At least S0ul got it right/@Fragmonkey: how was it for you?). Right after corner 1 there was a big incident, Mr. Urlauber got hit and I was not able to avoid hitting him here as well, sorry for that. A little bit lucky for me nontheless I got back to place 9. I then just followed and put a little pressure on the cars in front and profited from minor to major fights in the front and small incidents and found myself on the 3rd place, behinder Minder and S0ul. I was about 5 seconds behind them. Minder was pushing and setting S0ul under pressure. This went for 2-3 laps and I was able to shorten the distance and was in about less then a second. But really just a few corners before I could help out and set Minder under pressure he was able to pass S0ul. So again one place behind the teammate. Overall, despite the starting problem, a very successfull weekend for the scimmie volanties...best amateur and best semi-pro so far:-). But be aware the "How to start your car properly bootcamp" is comming soon. |
