Let's call it ... eventfull. Heat one I forgot to center my wheel. And braking seemed to be very difficult today, sorry for the bumps, guys.
Video from the live event is up, links to P,Q,H1,2,3 in the description:

Good races overall, sorry for any shunts I managed to do.
Final lap of race 1.

Heavy weather.. Very frustrating collision and subsequent return-position collisions with Ed in heat 2. We had a good chat after the race. Maybe a good lesson for some of the others: sometimes you're better off just backing off a bit instead of stubbornly defending your position on a track where that is very hard with cars that make it even harder.
For example the first incident with Ed where this was the last tenth of a second before I passed him, while being aside in the braking zone because Ed made a mistake on the straight, and he kept his line tapping into (and spinning) me. A racing incident, but avoidable if the defending car takes the track/corner/car dynamics into account. Be aware that I'm not calling my pass legit or blaming Ed. It's just that sometimes it's better to back out to avoid these ~50% his fault ~50% my fault incidents, from both sides of course. The same for returning positions, please make sure the car has both the space and opportunity to pass you and keep in mind the camber of the corner, the difference in speed, etc. Do not already aggressively accelerate if you're unsure whether the car has passed you and know there's little space. I'd recommend giving back positions on straights where possible. Enjoyed most parts of the races nonetheless, could get in some good pace and got some nice clean passes. Brands Hatch and I continue our difficult relation..

Too bad, you were really fast. For me, quali was a disaster. I just couldn't pick up the pace so I started from 11 I think. So first race I was mostly keeping in line, not many overtaking opportunities. I remember ending up behind Bossy's yellow McLaren at some point, and it was basically impossible to get past. He had a good pace and made very few mistakes. Unfortunately, we traded paint in one corner and I ended up spinning, which made me lose an extra position in heat 1. In heat 2 I started from 12th (maybe), kept in line for most of lap 1, overtook some people that spun iirc. Then ended up behind the yellow McLaren again : I think I managed to get past coming out faster on the last corner, and then slowly gaining some distance. At that point I was probably 9th, and there was a cluster of 4 cars ahead of me I think, 2 Fax-machines, a purple 911R (DeLof I think), and a Ferrari maybe. Due to very close racing between them, I managed to close the gap quick and ended up right behind them, at which point someone in front made a mistake, slowing the whole pack down, when I managed to get maybe 2 overtakes. Unfortunately, in the next corners I kept seeing some McLarens missing the braking points and going very wide, but fortunately, I don't think anyone crashed. Afterwards I had a nice fight with DeLof, in which he managed to edge me out after I made a mistake. Finished the race 5th (I think) after starting 12th... not bad Last heat was very intense for me, I tried keeping up with the 4 cars in front, which I think I managed for about half of the race. Eventually they either found a better pace, or I got slower and I lost them, allowing Sven to catch me up and overtake. Nevertheless, a decent 5th (again, I think), considering that I didn't really have a good feel of the car this race.

Team pics! All from heat 2 since I had to check that replay we went out of money to pay for the photographer who's always late.

2 wins... that was luck, seriously. I dont feel bad anymore but still dizzy. I used pedalshifter this time because i tried a lap before the event with h shifter and i was not able to drive. And in the first heat i lost 2 positions because i forget to brake properly into sheen corner...^^
Btw sheen corner, i guess i was cutting there pretty often. I tried hard to make it better but i had a bad feeling on the brakes which results in oversteering. Best moment was the little fight with DeLof in heat3. 30cm side by side. But your combatline was an invite m8!

Thanks for the pictures, Sven. It's nice to see that yellow McLaren from the front, I really had enough of seeing the back of it during the first 1 and a half heats. Haha
BTW, amazing photo-finish on heat 1. Too bad no-one gambled to do some drifting across the line

Only the shipping is yours. That is extremely generous of you dragonuak47. Your offer is much appreciated. They have already agreed to send me a free set of replacement paddles (I only bought it in December) so I will see how I get on with them. Many thanks. |
