So I am the only one in our league to use the Alpine A110 and my reasoning for chosing that car to begin with, is that it was the only one using RWD. And since it's rally, RWD is what it is all about!
It might be better with FWD on ice and snow, which we will see in the last event in sweden, but who cares. Everyone knows RWD is soo much more fun to drive.
With the engine in the rear, like Porsche, the back wheels get a good grip on the road. The wide body race version version with lowered suspension looks like something that would be impossible to tip over. The chassis made from fiberglass made the car very lightweight.
I have to say I have fallen in love with the Alpine A110. Not only does it sound like a proper rally car when you hit the throttle, but the looks of the car can only compare to a beautiful woman with nice curves. Old Porsches has nice curves also, but the Alpine A110 is like the exotic cousin of a Porsche. It just looks a little bit better with the extra front lights coming out of the front and the nice rear end that comes to a proper stop instead of just drooping off.
When I chose the blue livery for my Alpine A110 in Dirt Rally, I had no idea that the car was originally blue, so that was a happy little coincidence right there. That blue color really suits it perfectly.
And now for some motion pictures:
Listen to that roar! I get goosebumps :-)
Two old geezers in love.
And a little history
I hope that this post has made you interested in trying the car out in Dirt Rally. I found a mod version for Assetto Corsa last night, but I am afraid to try it out, as I think I will just be disappointed and it will not feel or sound right. I hope Kunos will include it in a DLC some day.
