I assume that's the WD40 "contact cleaner" and not the oil, because the latter probably wouldn't end well, lol
OUT. Will be visiting parents over dinner.

The lubing effect is caused the dissolving grime/WD40 mixture, which works for getting things loose, but the lubing effect won't last as the WD40 dries up.

It is an oil but not 'used to oil' so my point was that hydrocarbon based products tend to eat away at plastics and rubbers a major component of most mid range sim wheels and pedals. Technically plastics like UPVC and and PP should be ok in the short term but since it's often difficult to determine exactly what plastic standard a company has used ( if they've actually kept to a standard at all) it's better to be on the safe side and never use hydrocarbon derivatives on plastic. Also since standard WD40 does leave a residue it's not ideal for voltage dividers/resistors that use a sliding contact like potentiometers. The contact cleaner version (which is a bit overpriced really) doesn't leave a residue and is safe on more substances. I've used it on guitar pots for years. I really hope your pedals come good after this Iovenitti !!! Good luck!

Tonight turned out to be a great race. Zero expectations, because I hadn't practiced this track ever and I was pretty spent from this afternoon. I did riding training (see pic), which was incredible fun and I learnt few things too. It was physically demanding and the after-dinner dip hit me hard. My strategy for the race tonight was to just to have some fun and at least get a couple of points.
Qualy: 19th, of the 20 drivers who qualified. H1: Started okay, managed to avoid some crashes, finished 15th. H2: Very similar. Finished 12th. H3: rather boringly, very similar. I don't think I overtook someone, I just navigated through incidents and tried to stay out of trouble. I saw some good battles in front and behind me, and that kept the laptimes low enough for my 1:20's to compete in a sea of 1:17/1:18 drivers. Finished 10th. So all in all, happy with the evening and the result. Cheers everyone, cya next race.
Rough races! Especially chasing the Merc is hard work.. Was a bit unlucky in heat 2 just lightly tapping Dima on exiting the last corner. He spun, we both lost four positions. Heat 3 was a tough battle with Ed for first as well..
More soon? I guess Good results indeed, Johnnie! |
